Photo Overload

Have you ever flipped through the photos on your phone and realized that it captures your life in ways that words never could?

Perhaps you find pictures you had totally forgotten about, but they made you smile when you saw them.

Have you ever looked back and realized you are blessed beyond measure and just need to be thankful for today?

Last night I wrote this post. I listed a bunch of things I needed to write about. Later, in bed, flipping through the photos on my phone, I realized I had so many photos I wanted to share with you all. If I wrote a special post about all of them, I would never get caught up!

So instead I am going to photo overload you all in one post.

(Beware these are cell phone photos, so the quality isn't great but they sum up all that I've been up to in between taking care of the Lucky house!)

Alabama trip! This is where we came up with the name for the Lucky house!

On my lap is this ice cream recipe book. I read while the Hub's golfed on vacation. It was awesome!

Mulberries, one of the Hub's favorite summer berries! They grow on a tree in our backyard!

The river where I take the girls swimming only about five miles from our farm!

Basil, Thyme, and Rosemary. Can't believe I got my herbs to grow and thrive this year!

Chokecherries! Have you ever tasted these? The berries are terribly bitter and suck the moisture out of your mouth, but when you make them into syrup and jelly they become delicious! I put up six quarts of chokecherry juice this year, which I'll make into jelly and syrup later on. Thanks Mom, for the help!

 

Pumpkins, acorn squash and butternut squash. I am feeling so proud and incredibly lucky to have a year with such good rain to make my first real garden so awesome!

 

Carrots, green beans and butter crisp lettuce. Again, truly in awe.

This table was an awesome steal, thanks to a friend who was looking out for me! She didn't think it would fit into my Durango, but as you can see in the picture below, I just made it over the load line!

Thanks dear friend, that table will hold a lot of midnight margaritas!

 

The corner of the fence that came out to make room for the Lucky house was held together with none other than a kitchen table leg. Those ranchers sure can be resourceful!

Fence all gone and cleaned up. Ready to start on the road and digging the basement!

The tree grove where the girls played at the Lucky site looks just like a magical forest. It would have been my dream hideaway as a kid. Ok, who am I kidding, I still want to wander into it and pretend to be a princess.

Your first look at the Lucky house! Isn't she full of potential? I love her!

And lastly a picture that makes everyday worth living. The Hub's, with the kiddos, at the river, on an evening we spent with friends.

As I get older I am becoming acutely aware of how blessed I have been to live such an ordinary, yet beautiful life.

I have a man that loves me and two strong, healthy babies and that in and of itself is more blessing than I could ever dream of. Everything else is just a bonus.

Changes

I was cleaning today, which gave me time to think, and thinking always leads me here. The house is 'weekend messy', so decided to clean my floors, because The Nester says if your floors are clean the rest of the house feels clean too, even if it isn’t.  I have found that it is pretty good advice, so when everything else feels chaotic, I clean the floors. From My Christmas Wish List to Yours!

One of my favorite stores, West Elm, has now opened a special section called The Market. It specializes in kitchen, garden and personal care. Lets just say I am in love. If I had unlimited resources to spend in one store to do a total overhaul on my house, it would be West Elm, and now with the new Market, I am in lust too. So here are a few of my favorites. Check it out and maybe you'll get some great Christmas ideas for someone on your list. Or maybe my hubby will see this and get a great idea for me! Hint, hint! Enjoy! Incredibly large, amazing cutting board . I've seen these boards doubling as art hanging on the wall, then they take up no storage space! Cast iron Dutch oven . Great for one-pot meals. These glass jars come in varying sizes. I'm thinking they would work well for brown sugar with that rubber seal. I would definitely get plenty of use out of a cheese knife set during the holidays and all year round. Copper measuring spoons . Seriously? Fantastic

Happy Fall- Time to Slow Down

I've been busy following several blogs. They have such beautiful homes and are great inspirations. Sometimes I get carried away thinking that blog homes and magazine homes look that perfect every minute of every day. It's hard to remember that often the photos shown are there for inspiration and are only slices of a moment caught on camera. Pictures do not necessarily tell the story of true everyday life. Rachel Martin's blog, Finding Joy ,has got me thinking about taking the time to look for the spaces in my home that make me happy and inspire me. I need to focus on those places more, and less on the toys all over the living room floor or the messes on the counter that need to be put away. Instead of getting so wrapped up in what is unfinished, I need to focus on what is finished.
